NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans and Tayshaun Prince, a member of the 2008 Olympic gold medal US team, were among four NBA players added Tuesday to the 2010-2012 US lineup.
Sacramento guard Evans, Detroit Pistons playmaker Prince, Oklahoma City's Jeff Green and rookie Stephen Curry of Golden State brought the list of players on the overall American roster to 31.
USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo also announced the team would conduct a fifth consecutive training camp at Las Vegas on July 19-24 that will conclude in an inter-squad game among NBA stars July 24.
The camp will determine which players will represent the United States in the World Championships that run from August 28 to September 12 in Turkey.
LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony are among nine other 2008 gold medal winners already back on the US roster, which also includes such stars as Kevin Durant, Lamar Odom and Amare Stoudemire.
US coach Mike Krzyzewski, coming off a US college national championship season at Duke University, was pleased to see the newcomers as the Americans begin a new three-year cycle geared toward defending gold in London in 2012.
"The addition of Tayshaun, Jeff, Stephen and Tyreke to our national team roster adds additional veteran experience, versatility, and young talent," he said. "The addition of these four players will help strengthen our national team program in several areas over the next three years."
Prince averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds a game at the Beijing Olympics. He played in only 49 games this past NBA season due to a back injury but averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 rebounds and hit 48.6 percent from the field.
Evans led all NBA rookies with 20.1 points a game andalso grabbed 5.3 rebounds and passed off 5.8 assists a game. Curry averaged 17.5 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds a game this season for Golden State while Green had 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds a game for the Thunder.
"We're excited about the addition of these four outstanding players," said Colangelo. "Tayshaun is a versatile veteran who returns after helping the United States win gold in the Olympics and in adding Tyreke and Stephen we have brought into the fold two of the game's most exciting and promising newcomers."
