NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Orlando Magic will retain reserve shooting guard J.J. Redick after matching a three-year, $19-million contract offer from the Chicago Bulls, the team said on Friday.
"J.J. is a valuable part of our organization, both on the court and in our community," general manager Otis Smith said on the team's website (http://www.nba.com/magic).
"He has worked extremely hard during his four seasons with us and improved every year. We're happy that J.J. will be back to help us reach our ultimate goal."
Redick, a four-year NBA veteran who was a restricted free agent, played in all 82 games last season with the Magic, averaging a career-high 9.6 points and 1.9 assists.
Orlando was 59-23 last season and lost in the Eastern Conference finals to the Boston Celtics.
