Magic cruise past Bulls as Rose sprains wrist

Vince Carter scored 23 points to help Orlando cruise past Chicago 111-82 Thursday, the NBA defeat proving especially costly to the Bulls as Derrick Rose departed with a sprained wrist.

Matt Barnes added 14 points, and reserve Brandon Bass scored 13 for the Magic, who notched their season-high seventh straight victory.

Chicago's All-Star point guard Rose sprained his left wrist in a midair collision with Dwight Howard in the first quarter and didn't return for the Bulls.

Taj Gibson and Hakim Warrick had 12 points apiece, not enough to prevent the Bulls from suffering a sixth straight defeat.

Rose was hurt driving for a layup late in the first quarter. He was knocked to the court as he tried to get over Howard. He got up and made one of two free throws, then stayed in the game before he was taken to the locker room after the quarter.

It was another blow for a Bulls team already missing leading rebounder Joakim Noah, who is battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot, and Luol Deng, who has a strained calf.

Chicago are now 1 1/2 games behind Miami Miami, Charlotte and Toronto for the eighth Eastern Conference playoff spot.

The Magic are 4 1/2 games behind first-placed Cleveland - and 4 1/2 ahead of Boston - in the East.
