NBA player Delonte West has been slapped with a 10 game suspension after pleading guilty last month to carrying a cache of weapons as he raced down a freeway on his motorcycle.
American law enforcement officials said he was carrying two loaded handguns, a loaded shotgun and an 22 centimetre hunting knife while speeding on a three-wheel motorcycle on a freeway in September.
West played for the Cleveland Cavaliers last National Basketball Association season. The Minnesota Timberwolves waived him August 3 after acquiring West in a trade.
West received a home detention sentence that includes flexibility to travel to games.
The league said Friday that if he signs with a team, his suspension would begin with the first game of the regular season for which he is eligible to play.
